New York Fashion Week In Hair

Never one to let us down in the glamour stakes, gorgeous designer Victoria Beckham looked every inch the accomplished fashionista at New York Fashion week where she showcased the latest collection of her self titled range.
Mrs Beckham's hair was bang on trend, with a centre parting and loose tousled waves. Victoria is a big fan of hair extensions - she uses them to keep up to date with trends... remember her cute pixie cut a few years back?

Former model and chat show host Tyra Banks didn't disappoint with her gorgeous voluminous bob which she created with the help of plenty of extensions. Check the ClipHair youtube page for ideas on how to cut extensions to create a short but thick and luscious style - a la Tyra! A lot of backcombing clearly went into creating Tyra's look as her hair is lifted from the roots and then falls into big curls, which look like they have been created with rollers. Her side fringe really flatters her face - a great trick for girls with round faces.

Tamara Ecclestone showed her ex boyfriend exactly what he was missing when she stepped out looking drop dead gorgeous throughout New York Fashion week. The billionaire heiress sported her trademark long hair, boosted with lots of extensions in loose but thick waves. She completed the look with a flicked side fringe and lots of hairspray!

Kelly Osborne set tongues wagging with her outrageous hairstyles and outfit choices! Kelly likes to stand out from the crowd, and she has stuck to her head turning lilac rinse shade, which was sure to go down a treat with the fashion crowd. Kelly sported a number of crazy styles, such a cone shaped bun! Along with her wacky outfit choices, she looked great and very eye catching!

Whitney Port also looked fabulous with her long blonde locks, which are slightly ombre. You can achieve Whitney's ombre look by just clipping extensions into the lower half of your head while dying the roots a darker shade, or if you have the patience, simply waiting for them to grow out!

Whit's hair was again styled in a simply centre parting, and her locks were very loosely waved. Large rollers at the tips of the hair can be used to recreate her look.

Brown/Blonde Mix - Which Colour is Right for You?

Use this guide to help you decide which hair extensions are best for you...
As always, if you are still unsure, remember ClipHair offer a free and quick colour match service!

#4/24

These gorgeous hair extensions create a highlighted look, with a mixture of a rich chocolate brown, and light blonde strands.

#4/30

These are a mix of brown and auburn, and create a really glossy, multi tonal brown, similair to Cheryl Cole's trademark healthy and luscious looking hair.

#6/613

A paler brown and bleach blonde mix, which gives the effect of light brown hair with small and fine blonde highlights. Great if you are in the process of moving from brown to blonde.

#10/16

Medium golden brown and medium golden blonde mix - these are a glossy pale brown/dark blonde mixture.

#12/16/613

A mixture of blondes and reddy brown, perfect for those of you with light reddy brown hair. As always the incorporation of highlights makes the hair look super glossy and healthy.

#4/27

Medium brown and strawberry blonde mix - these gorgeous extensions are a mixture of a rich and glossy brunette shade with fine reddy blonde highlights. Good for those of you who have brunette hair with very fine blonde highlights.

#4/613

Medium brown and bleach blonde mix - a dark and glossy brown shade with thick chunky blonde highlights. Similiar to Cheryl's choppy style when she first rose to fame with Girls Aloud.

#9/613

Ash brown and bleach blonde mix - brown with blonde highlights running through. Good if you are a natural brunette or dark haired girl but have been having lots of fine blonde highlights for a while.

#18/613

These are the shade I wear and mix with blonde extensions. They are perfect if your natural hair is a natural brown shade which you have highlights through. I am always getting compliments on how well these blend with my highlighted hair.

Celebrity Hair News

This week everyone has been talking about Celebrity Big Brother... The two flirts in the house, Danica Thrall and Rhian Sugden both have long luscious locks, which can both be recreated with ClipHair clip in hair extensions. Rhian is a classic blonde bombshell with her peroxide long poker straight hair. To recreate her hair, use number #613 hair extensions, in either length 20" or 22". Rhian's style is very eye catching and seductive - you're bound to turn heads!
Danica is a more subtle beauty, with slightly dip dyed hair. The roots of her hair are a more caramel blonde, which gradually fades to a more ashy blonde - in an ombre effect. This style can easily be recreated without actually dying your own hair, thanks to ClipHair. Simply use the two different shades and layer them. To get Danica's style, I would reccommend going for 20" in #22 (Light ash blonde). These should be played along the lower half of your head. When you reach halfway up your head, you should switch to 18" in #14 (dark blonde). This will give you the effect of having dip dyed hair, without actually using any harmful dyes or chemicals. This technique can be applied to all colours and is a great way to switch up your look, especially if you get bored easily.

Cher Lloyd has also been in the press alot recently, after she was the victim of bullies whilst performing on stage at a festival. Some cruel partiers threw bottles of urine and at the pretty songstress, but in Cher's typical feisty style, she didn't let it get her down. Cher was spotted a few days later jetting off with her boyfriend to enjoy some quality time in the sun. Cher is a star famous for her ever changing hair styles. She loves to keep up with the current trends, and this means frequent changes in lengths and colours. Clip in hair extensions are extremely handy for someone like Cher, especially with the recent fashion for shaving sections of the head. If you followed this trend, you may be finding it hard to put up with the regrowth as it stands out against the rest of your head. It would be a good idea in this case to give clip in hair extensions a go, as they can be repositioned as you need them and are great for covering thinner patches of hair!

Another star who has decided to escape the disappointing British summer, is Hollyoaks Mercedes, Jennifer Metcalfe. Jennifer has been spotted showcasing her stunning beach body, with her hair slicked up into a tight ballerina bun. You may notice that celebrities always seem to have thick and healthy looking buns. This is thanks to 'hair doughnuts' which can be picked up in Boots or Superdrug for under five pounds. To recreate this look, you simply need to clip in a few hair extensions (I use roughly half a full head pack) and wrap them around the doughnut. Check out the ClipHair youtube channel for a tutorial on how to recreate this simple look. It's a lifesaver when you're in a hurry but still want to look chic and sophisticated.

Colour Celebrity Matches - Part 2

Do you have blonde highlighted hair, or is your hair more streaky than block coloured? If so, ClipHair's highlighted blonde collection is for you. These are extensions which blend together two colours, making them look extremely natural and ensuring there is the perfect shade out there for you!

BLONDE MIX #14/22
Dark blonde and Ash blonde mix
Amanda Bynes

These ash toned extensions are perfect if you share the tones of Amanda Bynes (right). The two tones make the extensions extremely easy to blend with your natural hair.

BLONDE MIX 22/613
Ash blonde and bleach blonde mix
Gwyneth Paltrow

A light blend of two gorgeous lightest blonde colours, these extensions suit blonde bombshells such as Gwyneth Paltrow.

BLONDE MIX #27/33/613
Strawberry blonde, auburn red and bleach blonde mix
Alessandra Ambrosio
If you are lucky enough to share the head turning locks of Victoria's Secret model Alessandra Ambrosio, then this shade is for you - a beauitful mixture of three colours.

BLONDE MIX 16/613
Golden blonde and bleach blonde mix
Hilary Duff
A great shade for hair which is highlighted, this blonde mix blends easily with most shades of blonde. The multi tonal highlights mean that the hair looks healthy and full of life.

BLONDE MIX 27/613
Strawberry blonde and bleach blonde mix
Nicole Kidman
Light strawberry blonde hair similiar to Nicole Kidman's will suit the 27/613 mix.

Tuesday 7 August 2012

This blog should make it easier for you to find your perfect shade :-) Check out these celebrities and which colour extensions they would use from ClipHair:

Lightest Blonde Hair Extensions #60

This is the lightest shade of blonde extensions available at ClipHair. They are a gorgeous white-blonde shade, ideal if you have your hair totally bleached to a really light blonde colour. They are suitable if your hair is all one shade of blonde, and they would be perfect for Gwen Stefani or Christina Aguilera.

Bleach Blonde Hair Extensions #613

The bleach blonde hair extensions in #613 are slightly more yellow toned than the lightest blonde extensions. I like to mix this shade with 18/613 to give the effect of blonde but highlighted blonde hair. If your hair is a yellow toned bleach blonde colour, similiar to Paris Hilton, or this photo of Heidi Montag, then these are the extensions for you!

Light Ash Blonde Hair Extensions #22

For more ash toned blondes, #22 hair extensions are great. They match perfectly with slightly less yellow tones. Sienna Miller here shows off her ash blonde locks to perfection.

Light Golden Blonde Hair Extensions #16

If you have a more rich golden shade of blonde, seen here on Reece Witherspoon, then you should go for #16. The shade is still light but has a more golden hue, perfect for summery rich blondes.

Dark Blonde Hair Extensions #14

For darker and honey blonde shades, #14 are great. Lauren Conrad is a great example of beautiful dark blonde hair and she has previously admitted she loves using hair extensions to boost her look. If you originally had dark hair, but have dyed it blonde, these could also be the shade for you - as they would match perfectly with Beyonce's hair when she goes blonde!

Beautiful BLONDES

As I write this I am sat here with bleach developing on my head. I have taken the brave (and crazy?) step of bleaching my own hair. Usually, I get highlights done at the hairdressers - but recently I became fed up with the streaky shade of blonde I got, and wanted something a little more eyecatching! My blonde inspirations are...

JESSICA SIMPSON
Jessica Simpson is my favourite blonde bombshell. The gorgeous white chocolate shade looks beautiful against her tanned skin and she really does look like a Californian godess!

BRITNEY SPEARS
The original blondie. Britney's hair inspired me to go blonde from a young age. During her heights she looked gorgeous with blonde highlighted hair, that was always in tip top condition.

VICTORIA SILVSTEDT
The ultimate human barbie doll, Victoria's long and luscious blonde locks finish off her plastic fantastic look to perfection.

Who is your blonde inspiration?

Looking after your blonde locks:
  1. If you plan to be out under the sun cover hair with a scarf or hat because sunlight causes colour to fade more rapidly. If you choose to use a UV spray, reapply often.
  2. If you swim a lot in salt or chlorinated water, rinse hair thoroughly before diving in. Hair can only absorb so much water so you won't harm hair much if you soak it first.
  3. Every 3-4 weeks, use an at-home conditioner to restore the cuticle and boost color and shine.
  4. To prevent dullness and a green tint caused by chlorine and hard minerals in water, shampoo with a clarifying shampoo once a week. Look for the word "clarifying" on the bottle.
  5. To prevent brassiness, stylist Louis Licari recommends in Allure Magazine shampooing once a week with a purple-toned shampoo such as Toni and Guy's purple shampoo.
  6. If you use styling tools, always use a protector on hair before applying the flat iron or curling iron or drying with a blowdryer.

If your hair has turned brassy, apply a rich gloss treatment made to reduce brassiness.
If your hair feels like straw after it's colored, try an after-sun hair mask to restore softness.

August Hair Trends - Summer is HEREEEEEEEEEE :-D

After probably one of the weirdest June/Julys weather wise it seems like the sun is finally arriving in Britain so we can get out our shorts, flip flops, summer dresses and wear some gorgeous summery hairstyles! Check out the ClipHair youtube channel to find out how to achieve beautiful braids, which are perfect for the nice weather!

My inspiration over the past months has been coming from the beautiful girls on The Bachelor.
All the girls on The Bachelor were chosen for their stunning looks, so it's no surprise that they all have luscious hair for me to lust over. My favourite hair belongs to Khloe, Brandy and Renay. Khloe and Brandy both have blonde highlighted hair and use extensions. They have both been spotted with rollers in their hair which gives away how they achieve their trademark volumous locks. Renay has gorgeous long hair which she achieves using clip in hair extensions. To get her style, watch the video on how to achieve loose beach waves on the youtube channel.

Another celebrity catching my eye this summer is ex TOWIE star Maria Fowler. Maria has recently been sporting blonde locks, which I haven't been to keen on. I think that her hair looks gorgeous as a rich reddy brunette, so I was happy and excited to hear that she has returned to her copper hues. Maria tweeted a photo of her last summer with red toned locks and long extensions. She spoke of how excited she is to get fresh clip in extensions and return to her former length! Check out www.cliphair.co.uk if Maria has inspired you to go RED, as ClipHair stock a wide range of raven extensions.

Speaking of red hair, Jodie Marsh has been causing a stir with her steamy photoshoot featuring ex TOWIE star Kirk Norcross. She showed off her bodybuilders physique in the shots, which were made extra eyecatching with her full head of ruby hair. Amy Childs is still looking gorgeous as ever, sporting her trademark red hair extensions, which she uses rollers in to create bounce and volume.

Why Clip Ins Are BEST!

Clip In VS. Bonded Hair Extensions – Which Should You Go For and Why?

CLIP INS

Easy to maintain –

Clip in hair extensions are easy to maintain. If, like me, you wash your hair daily, or even every other day, you won’t want the extra hassle of having extremely long and thick hair to wash. The great thing about clip in extensions is that at the end of the day, you simply spend two minutes removing them, and then can wash your own hair as normal. The extensions are very easy to look after, and don’t require washing as much as your own hair. As you can take them out when you wash your hair, they won’t dry out quickly, and stay soft and supple for longer. You also don’t need to pay for special products to use on your clip in hair extensions, they can be looked after using your normal hair care products.

Safe for hair – NO DAMAGE IS CAUSED TO THE HAIR BY CLIP IN HAIR EXTENSIONS

The difference between clip in hair extensions and any other hair extensions is that clip ins are proven to cause the natural hair NO DAMAGE, meaning you can achieve luscious, thick and long locks without compromising the quality of your natural hair. They will have no effect on whether your natural hair grows, and will not cause any hair loss, which is frequently seen on bonded hair extension wearers.

Cost effective

Clip in extenions are much cheaper than bonded extensions. They don’t require a technician to apply them, and they don’t require the expensive maintenance that bonded hair extensions do. The initial cost is cheaper, with clip in hair extensions costing a fraction of the price of pre bonded ones.

Clip ins are also not OBVIOUS

The fact that you can easily remove clips and move them around means that they are never on show. Once bonded hair extensions are in, they cannot be moved around or removed, which limits the styles you can create. However, with clip in extensions, you are free to move them around as much as you choose… and create as many different styles as you like whilst no one will know you are wearing extensions!

BONDED EXTENSIONS

Extreme Maintenance

Getting professional bonded extensions is a massive investment, both financially and time wise. Looking after bonded extensions is a big deal. Firstly, they need to be maintained regularly. You can either opt to fork out the price you paid originally all over again to have a fresh set of hair put in every few months (usually around £500 – not including your cut and colour!) or you can have your extensions ‘rotated’ which is cheaper, but needs to be done more frequently. Not only are these procedures time consuming, they are also expensive, and put lots of pressure on your hair. You also need to buy special products to care for your hair extensions, and washing your hair will take much longer. You need to be really gentle with bonded hair extensions, so your usual hair care routine won’t be nearly as quick.

Dangerous and Damaging

Jennifer Aniston has revealed that bonded hair extensions ruined her hair, ‘After Friends I wanted a different look, so I cut my hair. Obviously, I wasn't thinking clearly, So I decided to have a couple of extensions, never knowing you end up with 400 things in your head that cause your hair to break off.’ Jennifer is not alone, many other celebrities have been spotted out with bald patches due to the damaging effects of bonded hair extensions. Trichologist Leonora Doclis of the Belgravia Centre says that gluing hair extensions into your hair is quite simply ‘the worst thing you can do to your hair.’

June/July Hair Trends

The weather has been as inconsistent as the hair trends this summer... with celebrities leading us in all different directions! A plus side to clip in hair extensions is that it can be so easy to keep up to date with the latest styles.

Britney and Demi have been looking gorgeous on set of the X Factor in America. Demi showcased this dip dye bun at the auditions on Providence, which is surprisingly easy to achieve without any hair dye. Check out how to recreate the look using ClipHair colourful streak extensions on the youtube channel - www.youtube.com/EllieClipHair. Her look is really fresh and summery and it's easy to create with a variety of different colours.

Britney has been looking classy and healthy, with thick, luscious curls. While her hair isn't as long as it often looks, she still has lots of extensions in her hair to give it the healthy and thick look. To recreate her look I would reccommend 15" double wefted extensions, spaced evenly through your head and then tonged with a large barreled heated curler.

You'd have to be living on another planet not to have heard about the exciting new Spice Girls venture - Spice Girls the musical, which is coming to London in Novemeber this year. The Spice Girls got together to promote this in London and all looked super groomed and glamorous.
All of them but Geri Halliwell were sporting hair extensions. Melanie Brown is wearing extensions to give herself a full ponytail, which can also be achieved by using the recently launched ClipHair ponytail. Mel C is wearing just a few artfull placed extensions to give her hair a boost. Emma Bunton is not afraid to admit her love for hair extensions and wears them to make her hair look thicker and healthier. Victoria uses extensions as she is famous for changing her hair - only a few years ago she had a short pixie crop and her hair has not yet grown long. She backcombs her extensions at the crown of her head in order to get lots of volume before pinning the under layers into a sleek low ponytail.

In other news Megan Fox has still not confirmed pregancy rumours, but has posed for a number of candid photographs with her husband, proudly displaying her baby bump. With her long dark hair flowing in the breeze, she looks every inch the glamorous mum to be. If you aren't as fortunate to be blessed with long, luscious locks, fear not! Head over to www.cliphair.co.uk for your extensions fix :)

Hair Extensions For BRIDES!

So eveyone knows that your wedding is THE most important occasions (looks-wise) of your life. You will cherish not only the memories from your special day forever, but also the photos!! Every bride wants to look and feel like a princess...
Even if you never use hair extensions, I'd absolutely reccommend them for special occasions such as weddings. If you're nervous about using hair extensions, ClipHair extensions are the perfect choice for you. They are very easy to apply, and to remove, and cause absolutely no harm to your natural hair. They are made from the highest quality human hair, and come in a wide range of colours - so no one will know that you are wearing them unless you tell them!
They're also alot easier to style than extensions which are glued in or bonded in other ways, because you can unclip them, move them around, and even style them separately to your own hair. You can also keep adding more, depending on just how luscious and voluminous you want your wedding day style to be. They come at a snip of the price of bonded extensions, and can be worn again and again.

My Favourite Hairstyles for Brides:

The Ballerina Bun:
It takes good bone structure to pull off this look at your wedding, but if you are blessed with high cheekbones, this is a gorgeous look to show off your immaculate wedding day makeup and make you look like a true princess. It's also a great style if you're attempting to stick to a budget for your wedding, as it's really easy to create yourself. Visit the ClipHair youtube channel www.youtube.com/elliecliphair to see how to recreate the look.

Halo Braids

I absolutely love braids on brides. They look so pretty, delicate and feminine and look stunning with a grecian style dress. If I don't decide to go for a big bouncy half-up-half-down look at my wedding (see Jennifer Stano below) then I will definitely go for a braided look. With a little practice, braids can become second nature to your fingers! Waterfall braids are also gorgeous for a wedding - again, tutorials can be found on the ClipHair youtube page.

Simply Waves
I also love simple waves on a bride. With a gorgeous dress, flawless makeup, and perhaps a tiara and veil, many women don't need intricate hairstyles to complete the look. By creating really luscious and healthy looking waves, with a little help of course from ClipHair, you can still look your ultimate best.

My Favourite Bridal Celebrity Styles:

1. Jennifer Stano:

Model Jennifer Stano has to be my all time favourite bride! I think she looked just stunning on her wedding day and she will definitely be my inspiration when I get married. I love the fairytale look of her wedding and the way she looks slightly OTT and full on glamourous, but still classy and elegant. Her hair looks gorgeous and was created by hair hairstylist Cynthia, using hair extensions of course! If you're brave enough to do your own hair for your wedding, or perhaps you just want to look stunning as a guest or bridesmaid, I'd reccommend having a few trial runs so you know you'll be super confident on your special day. Alternatively, show this page to your hairdresser!

Jennifer's own hair is shoulder length, and the styling started with a bouncy blow dry to give her natural hair alot of volume. Layer by layer, hair extensions were clipped in, and tonged with a large barrel curling tong to create the loose curls which Jennifer describes as 'beachy waves'. At the top of Jennifer's head, heated rollers were used to create extra volume around the crown. Her stylist then pinned up the upper sections of her hair at the back, creating a 'half up-half down' look, enabling Jennifer to have her hair down, without it being in her face. If she had wanted a more ornate look for her hair, this would have been the time to insert roses or diamonds, or whatever she fancied. Claire's Accessories stock a wide range of hair decorations which are attached to tiny spirals. Simply by swirling the spiral into your hair, it looks as if you have 'floating' decorations in your hair. These are really popular with brides. Jennifer had quite a detailed tiara and veil, so she didn't feel it was necessary to have any more going on with her hair. Personally I LOVE this style. It looks so feminine and pretty. If you want to get Jennifer's style, I'd reccommend using at least two packs of full head ClipHair extensions, and perhaps adding more after your trial runs depending on whether you feel you need them. You can tell from the back of her hair that she has ALOT of extensions in, and it's worth it for your special day when you want to look your all time best.

2. Kate Middleton
I'm not particularly into the royal family at all, but I was still swept up in all the magic of the royal wedding last year. Kate Middleton therefore is my second favourite 'celebrity' bride. I wouldn't go for her style myself, because I don't think I could pull it off - but I still think she looks stunning in her own way. She looks so elegant and classic and beautiful.
Her hair is actually all her own, but if you're anything like me and most people I know, you won't be blessed with such gorgeous bouncy locks. Fear not, they are very easy to recreate - and this is one look which I would say is much easier to create than, for example, the one above, without the help of a stylist.
Kate's look was created by blowdrying the hair using a big barreled curling brush, and then setting it in rollers. Heated rollers are extra handy because they help the hair to stay in position once they're removed. When creating a similiar look with extensions, you can either put all your hair extensions in and then apply rollers, or set your hair extensions separately to your actual hair, and then apply them afterwards. Either way has a similar effect :)

3. Eva Longoria
Eva has to be the winner of the best up-do prize. She always looks so effortlessly chic, and her wedding day was no exception. Eva actually had her hair down for the ceremony, but switched to an up-do later to enjoy the celebrations at her wedding reception. Even though I am a regular hair extension user, I would seriously reccommend any hair extension virgins to try them for their wedding. They absolutely transform your hair, and Eva will have definitely used hair extensions for this up-do. To recreate this style I would curl the hair all over, with hair extensions in using rollers, which will just give the hair soft and subtle waves. Then, whilst I am fixing the hair up at the back, I would secure a roller away from my face at the front, to create the flirty flick you can see on Eva. The back can be secured with pretty decoration 'swirls' as described above. They look so pretty on brides.

Good luck on planning your bridal hairstyle future brides! And remember if you have any questions or need any help just email ClipHair or contact me through the ClipHair youtube! www.youtube.com/elliecliphair

- Human hair
The new ponytail piece is made from the same high quality 100% human hair found in the regular ClipHair extensions. This means that it can be styled with straighteners and curling tongs, and washed to keep it in immaculate condition.

- Easy to attach
The hairpiece comes with a easy to attach clip and two ribbon ties for extra support, ensuring your ponytail won't budge, and no one will no your secret. This fixing also means that there is no tell tale 'lump' that is common with ponytail extensions and will blend perfectly with your own hair.

- Colour match service
The new ponytail hairpieces can also be matched in the same way as ClipHair extensions, simply send a photo of yourself in, or a hair sample. Find more details on this service on the ClipHair website - www.cliphair.co.uk

Ponytails have been all over the catwalks for Spring/Summer 2012. Check out this one for example, from Donna Karen's Spring/Summer collection. The tight slicked back style also has the added bonus of giving it's wearer an instant facelift!
Mid height ponytails have been given a preppy twist on the Ralph Lauren catwalks, where little styling has been given, adding a natural and relaxed touch to the look.
For a really feminine and soft look, why not add a ClipHair human hair fringe to your pony, a la Rachel McAdams.
Rachel here has used a large barrelled curling tong to give her pony large waves. To get Rachel's voluminous look, simply backcomb the upper half of your head before attaching your pony, which could be ready curled. Then clip on a fringe, and you're good to go! Alternatively, for a more sharp and sophisticated look, keep your extension pony super straight, along with your fringe. Slick back your natural hair, clip on the ponytail and fringe and watch heads turn!
The ponytail's are so quick to clip in, it really couldn't be simpler. To see how quick and easy it is, visit the ClipHair tutorial page - www.youtube.com/EllieClipHair

So  if you're ready to keep up with Summer's latest trend, stay tuned at
www.cliphair.co.uk for the ponytail extensions!
